First off, we all want you to succeed, & think you will succeed or we wouldn t have hired you We are here to guarantee your success! We can t succeed without you succeeding! Academic success can mean many things Historical primary themes include: Clinical care Education Research Other areas include administrative roles, quality improvement, and resource utilization
How promotion works? Regular and Special Title Series are tenure track This means you have official 2 year & 4 year reviews and then have to advance to next rank by year 7 These reviews are reviewed up to the level of the provost Clinical Title Series Reviewed departmentally on an annual basis Do not need 2 & 4 year reviews No timetable for advancement, although we typically consider the general timetable to be the same at 7 years
Know your goals and keep your eye on them! Each Department has a Statement of Evidences Set of guidelines for promotion You need to know these now, and keep them in mind at each yearly review! They dictate the goals you need to meet for academic success within your unique departments.
Think about your DOE? This is about what work you have been hired for. What kind of work you want to do? Where you will succeed, and where you may fail? Shape this continuously!
