The Department of Biomedical Sciences has revised its code and formed a
committee (3 NTTF, 1 TTF and the Chair) to summarize the criteria for
promotion.
Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences (MCIN, a special
academic unit) is revising its code with input from NTTF.
The College is evaluating how NTTF and TTF are integrated and what role
the CVMBS Special Faculty Advisory committee will have moving forward
The diversity of NTTF in CVMBS may require more work on NTTF
promotion criteria, etc. at the departmental level where there is more
similarity among NTTF types (teaching, research or clinical).

In early January, CLA devoted the chair’s retreat to the
issue of code changes. This included changes to
appointment types, distinguishing between the instructor
and professor ranks, criteria for promotion, and voting
rights.
Departments will submit final code changes, approved by
their faculty, to the dean by March 1 to be forwarded to
the Vice Provost March 15.

Departments are making progress in code updates related to
both appointment types and promotional criteria.
Several meetings in January addressed working to complete the
updates this spring.
At least one department, CEE, had already revised their Code
to allow NTT faculty to serve on committees and vote on all
issues except those involving tenure and promotion of TT/T
faculty, and now language simply needs to be updated to
reflect the new appointment types.

According to Administrative Committee Meeting Minutes
discussion happened in December around organizing
appointment types, ranks, and titles

IR will provide annual (Oct 1st) data summaries on NTTF metrics.
CoNTTF plans to use this data to chart the progress of the new faculty
appointment types and better understand NTTF promotion.
