  1. CLASS OF 2023 11th GRADE COURSE SELECTION

Graduation Requirements 24 Credits, including: 1 Online Course 4 Credits of English Pass the Algebra EOC or earn a concordant score on the PSAT, SAT, ACT, or Geometry EOC 4 Credits of Math o 1 must be Algebra o 1 must be Geometry 3 Credits of Science o 1 must be Biology 3 Credits of Social Studies o World History o US History o US Government/Economics 1 Credit of a Fine Art Pass the Grade 10 ELA FSA or earn a concordant score on the SAT or ACT 2.000 Unweighted GPA 1 Credit of Physical Education 8 Credits of Electives NOTE: Two consecutive years of a foreign language (i.e., Spanish 1 and Spanish 2) are NOT required for high school graduation, but ARE required for the Bright Futures scholarship and admission to most 4-year universities.

  3. Graduation Requirements Cumulative unweighted GPA MUST be a 2.000 or higher. Only final semester and full-year grades affect GPA. Semester 1 = Average of Quarter 1% and Quarter 2% Semester 2 = Average of Quarter 3% and Quarter 4% A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0 o o o o Unweighted GPA vs. Weighted GPA AP/DE/Honors classes worth extra points AP/DE/Honors and regular classes worth same points Used to determine high school graduation, DE eligibility, sports eligibility, school privileges o o Honors = +0.5 o DE/AP = +1.0 Used to determine Bright Futures eligibility, apply to colleges, etc. o

  4. Graduation Requirements At this point, 10th graders should have 9 credits and at least a 2.000 GPA to be considered on track for graduation. At the end of 10th grade, students should have 12 credits and at least a 2.000 GPA to be considered on track for graduation.

  10. Fine Art Sign up for a fine art if you have not already met this requirement. 2-D Art 1 is a pre-requisite for 3-D Art 1.

Physical Education Meeting the PE graduation requirement: 1.0 Credit of HOPE 0.5 Credit of Personal Fitness (online) + 0.5 Credit of on campus PE class such as weight training 0.5 Credit of Personal Fitness (online) + 0.5 Credit Outdoor Education or Fitness Lifestyle Design (online) 0.5 Credit of Personal Fitness (online) + Marching Band Waiver*** Waiver from 2 seasons of a JV or Varsity sport at LOLHS*** o o o o o ***IMPORTANT: You do not earn credit for waivers, so you would need to complete extra elective credits. Follow up with counselor if you want a waiver entered.

  13. Electives OJT (On-The-Job Training) o Opportunity to earn high school elective credit and a paycheck from the employer. Pre-requisite: Business course, such as Digital Info Tech or Business Entrep Prin. If a student hasn t taken a business course previously, they can take one concurrently with OJT. For each period of OJT on the high school schedule, student must be working a minimum of 5 hours at their job. Must be ON TRACK for graduation to get a parking pass. o o o Peers as Partners in Learning vs. Leadership Skills Development Leadership Skills: assigned to staff, providing administrative support to staff Peers as Partners: assigned to a teacher s room, providing support to students Application required, priority goes to seniors and then juniors o o o

  14. Course Selection Reminders Students must have 6 courses selected, as well as 2-3 backup options for electives. (If one of the courses is a semester course, you must select another semester course to go with it.) If a student has an eschool placeholder on their schedule, they MUST sign up for/complete an eschool course to earn the credit. Students with off-campus placeholders (eschool or PHSC) MUST have daily transportation. They cannot be on campus during those periods.

  15. Dual Enrollment Text @lolhs23de to 81010 to join the Class of 2023 DE Remind. Students MUST have a 3.000 unweighted GPA and meet test scores on the PERT, ACT, or SAT to be eligible for DE. We will be offering the PERT for free at LOLHS on Mon, March 8th and Wed, March 10th after school. Scan the QR code to register for the test!
