  2. yarn Yarn is a spun thread that is used for knitting or weaving. People use yarn to knit sweaters, hats, and mittens. When have you used yarn before?

  3. strands Strands are thin pieces of thread, string, or hair. The strands of yarn are tied into knots at the bottom of this rug. What do you think strands of gold thread may be used for?

  4. spinning Twisting together pieces of material to make yarn or thread is called spinning. It takes a lot of practice spinning chunks of wool into thin yarn. Would you like to trying spinning? Why or why not?

  5. dye Dye is a liquid that is used to change the color of cloth or other soft material. These shirts are soaked in dye to make them colorful. What color of dye might come from acorns?

  6. weave To weave means to make an item by crossing material over one another or by braiding them together. This woman will weave dried grasses into baskets. Have you ever weave something together?

  7. sharpening If you are sharpening something, you are making its edge very pointed or thin. This pencil does not need sharpening anymore! Why do some things need sharpening now and then?

  8. duplicated If you have duplicated something, you have made an exact copy of it. Some colors on this rug are duplicated. They appear again and again. What have you seen or used that was duplicated?

  9. delicious Food that is delicious has great flavor. This baker makes delicious cakes. They are very tasty! What food do you think tastes delicious?
