  7. Possible Approaches: You could study the official website for your chosen person and a piece of journalism on the same person You could compare a television programme with a book, magazine or website about the person If the person has been criticised in the press, you could compare newspaper and television coverage with what is said on the official website. Speak to friends/family/teachers about the person you have chosen, they may have some interesting pieces of information!

  8. Lets get started! What I know What I want to know What I learned

  9. Summarising You will have to summarise your chosen texts to help you get to grips with all the information you find. There are different ways you can summarise texts

  10. For example: Andy is about to go off to college. His toys fear he has forgotten them and that they will never get played with again. After a mix up when they think they are being thrown out, the toys chose to go to Sunnyside Day Care. Woody escapes to go to college with Andy. Sunnyside seems very nice, until the toys realise that the children play roughly, and that Lotso bear runs the place like a dictator. Woody comes back to rescue them. After nearly being crushed and then burnt at the rubbish dump, the toys, Woody included, start a new life with an imaginative little girl called Bonnie.

  11. Or Andy is going off to college The toys are worried they are forgotten forever There is a mix-up and the toys think they have been thrown out. The toys end up at Sunnyside Day Care but Woody escapes to go with Andy Sunnyside is not the nice place it first appears to be as the children play rough The toys discover Lotso the bear runs the Day Care and is in charge of all the toys Woody returns to rescue the toys The toys are nearly crushed and burnt at the rubbish dump Woody and all the toys start a happy new life with a grateful little girl called Bonnie

  12. Summarising is a skill Think about your favourite film. Now, using one of the two methods discussed, summarise the whole film in the correct order. You should only identify the KEY EVENTS of the film. Be prepared to report back to the class.

  13. Your sources (texts) You should now be able to investigate your chosen person and be able to select sources. You should be able to provide a copy of the source WITH a summary to demonstrate your understanding of the information in the text.
