  2. What is civil engineering? Civil engineers conceive, design, build, supervise, operate, construct and maintain infrastructure projects and systems. This includes roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment

Jersey context Forecast of up to 7 years worth of capital projects planned in the island *CIGPE survey identifying a skills and personnel shortage at all professional levels Not enough qualified engineers in the local market to handle these projects Potentially 30 vacancies to fill in the next 5 years *Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers industry body

Higher Apprenticeship Pathway Higher Apprenticeship (HNC)Civil Engineering Year 1 - HNC part 1 Year 2 - HNC part 2 Year 3 Degree (BEng) part 1 Year 4 Degree (BEng) part 2 Year 5 Degree (BEng) part 3 ********************** Potential for further study and chartered status:- Year 6 Masters (MEng) Year 7 Masters (MEng)

  6. Earn while you learn - All candidates need to be in paid employment - You gain invaluable on the job experience - Support to progress from your Trackers mentor - Opportunity to be ahead of the game when you graduate

  7. How it works Candidates will work in industry 4 days a week Attend Highlands College 1 day a week to study Local field trips and off-island work at LSBU (Maths A-Level tuition if required)

  8. How the funding works Shared funding through Trackers & Employer Apprenticeship / Mentoring model

  9. How it works with a Trackers mentor Support from a dedicated Trackers Mentor Meet at least once every 3 weeks Quarterly progress reviews with Trackers Mentor, employer and apprentice

  10. Entry Requirements Must be working in industry 5 years residency A Level EEE or; equivalent Level 3 qualifications worth 48 UCAS points (Must include Maths. Physics desirable) Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
