How DESE selected LINQ as its vendor Late Spring 2022 Fall 2021 Spring 2021 April/May 2021 DESE retains LINQ to build its grants system (GEMS)! DESE hires vendor and conducts extensive business process review (BPR) for grants work EdGrants Users surveyed regarding pain points and user experience After BPR, DESE issues RFQ for grants systems 2
LINQ knows grants LINQ was founded by folks who developed Ohio s grant management system in 2001 LINQ has built grant systems for 15 states they speak our language Many of LINQ s team have worked in state education departments New features are available to all LINQ users No licenses required 3
Live Demo of GEMS: FY23 Title III, Part A Immigrant Grant This grant is being demonstrated in the DESE GEMS testing environment We will demonstrate basic features from the district perspective There will be multiple opportunities for live and at-will training once the system becomes active webinars (live and recorded); written instructions with screenshots indexed by topic 4
Fiscal Updates With the introduction of GEMS, there will be some changes to our grantmaking: Elimination of Signature Page Pending amendments will not prevent claims for reimbursement All grants will move to reimbursement only no initial payments All grants, including federal multi-year, will end on June 30 5
