Co-working Space Digital Games Expression of Interest (EOI) Communications Plan 8 October 2024
OFFICIAL The purpose of this plan is to document the communications context, timeline and approach that will support the Digital games co-working space EOI Context With the closing of The Arcade, Victoria s digital games co-working space in January 2022, the industry has confirmed there is a need to establish a new co- working/co-location space. Following industry consultation and key stakeholder feedback it is determined that Creative Victoria will now run an open-market EOI process to solicit proposals to deliver a suitable venue that provides co-working facilities to assist in provision of key facilities for small to medium games studios and provides programs and activities that connect the space and the tenants with the broader games community. OFFICIAL The Victorian Government is calling for EOIs from suitable businesses, organisations or consortia to establish a dedicated games co-working/co- location space within the CBD and inner surrounds that will house emerging and more established businesses. The Victorian Government is offering an upfront financial incentive of up to $2.5 million to support the establishment of a new and dedicated co-working space. Victoria and especially Melbourne is the Australian hub and market leader for digital games production. Co working/co location spaces provide a range of benefits to the industry including: collaboration, mentoring, enhancing networking and knowledge and resource sharing. Some of Victoria s top games have been produced by studios working from a co-working space, including award winning Cult of the Lamb and Stray Gods. Developed in consultation with industry, this project aims to support the increasing number of small and medium sized studios by helping them build capacity and sustainable practices. In recognition that the market may adopt different approaches, respondents are encouraged to develop unique and innovative propositions and consider partnership opportunities. EOI responses will address the evaluation criteria, detailing the delivery model including social and sector benefits plus ongoing business sustainability. EOI closing date is April 5, 2024 at 5.00pm. Key Messages Page 4 OFFICIAL
