3. 3 INTRODUCTION There are numerous warnings in the scriptures of the danger of being deceived Warning concerning idolatry - Deuteronomy 11:16 Jesus warned of false Christs - Luke 21:8 Paul often warned saints not to be deceived Sinful living - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Evil communications - 1 Corinthians 15:33-34 Sowing and reaping - Galatians 6:7-8 By false worship of men s doctrines - Colossians 2:4-23 Especially vss. 4, 8, 16, 18, 20-23 12/19/2021

4. 4 Can seem to be right when really it is wrong King Saul when he spared Agag & flocks - 1 Samuel 15 Paul when he persecuted Christians - Acts 23:1; 26:9 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death - Proverbs 14:12 Sin Is Deceitful and It 12/19/2021

5. 5 Can promise freedom but it really brings slavery Some are slaves to sinful passions of various types His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins - Prov 5:22 Galatians 5:1 2 Peter 2:20-23 Romans 6:12-17 Sin Is Deceitful and It 12/19/2021

6. 6 Can appear very attractive but really is very ugly What you see is NOT what you get The fruit of the tree looked very attractive - Genesis 2:18 Judah s sins described by God as a festering, oozing sore Isaiah 1:5-6 God viewed the church in Laodicea in a very different way Revelation 3:14-22 Peter illustrates God s view of sin - 2 Peter 2:18-22 - (NOT WYSIWYG) Sin Is Deceitful and It the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire - vs. 22 12/19/2021

7. 7 Can appear to be very satisfying and fulfilling, but its end is very disappointing Sin offers temporary pleasures - Hebrews 11:25 Doing God s Will brings eternalbenefits And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever 1 John 2:17 Sin Is Deceitful and It 12/19/2021

8. 8 Can seem very trivial, when it is very serious Adam and Eve - eat of the forbidden fruit - Genesis 3 Only one little bite was disobedience! 9. 9 Can seem very trivial, when it is very serious Uzza - was only trying to keep the ark from falling 2 Samuel 6:1-11 God commanded the Ark be carried on the shoulders of the priests using the staves Exodus 25:10-14; 1 Chronicles 15:1-2, 11-15 One good intention that went bad Sin Is Deceitful and It Never trivialize or excuse the seriousness of sin! 12/19/2021

10. 10 May appear to bring life, but it brings death Some say eat, drink and be merry - Luke 12:19 James 4:13-17 Others urge you to live it up go to the local bar, to the casino, to the horse races or have an affair and your viewed as strange if you do not - 1 Peter 4:3-4 1 Peter 4:1-2, 5; Proverbs 1:10-19, vss. 1-9 Study to be able to discern both good and evil Hebrews 5:12-14 Sin Is Deceitful and It For the wages of sin is death - Romans 6:23 12/19/2021
