Coordinating Conjunction
 
FANBOYS (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So)
These conjunctions join two things together that are
of equal importance
Two independent clauses united by a coordinating
conjunction creates a compound sentence
 
Subordinate Conjunction
 
These conjunctions join a dependent clause to an
independent clause in order to show cause and
effect, time, place, or other relevant details
The dependent clause always starts with a
subordinate conjunction
An independent clause that is connected to a
dependent clause is a complex sentence
