Delivering services for the people of Newbury Representing the people of Newbury as the elected body of the town Exercising good governance and best practice to ensure that we are open, transparent and accountable Run regular high quality markets, allotments, cemeteries and parks, playground and leisure spaces and facilities Work with West Berkshire Council, the BID and other organisations that are important to the success and wellbeing of the town and its residents Maintain openness and transparency in our actions and decision making Work with West Berkshire Council to devolve appropriate assets and services Support Remembrance Day and other important civic events. Running a community grants scheme prioritising causes serving Newbury Consult on issues of significance to Newbury, using tools such as public meetings, surveys, questionnaires, petitions, etc. Support community safety, including Town Centre CCTV, through working with partners Support the Newbury Youth Council and promote Local Democracy Week, in particular for young people. Embrace technological advances to progress smarter working methods, where feasible, in order to reduce waste and be more efficient - including a review of committee structures and working groups Increase biodiversity through drought and pest resistant planting, reduced use of pesticides and herbicides, replacing diseased trees and extending tree planting Lobby the Local Planning Authority as appropriate on issues of importance for the wellbeing and prosperity of the people of Newbury Report every three months on our progress towards achieving the short and medium term projects contained in the Strategy Newbury Town Council is committed to continuing to make Newbury a better place to live, work and visit.

Project Delivery Construct new caf facilities in Victoria Park Support, assist and promote the proposed Jack of Newbury statue in Northbrook Street Prepare an action plan to further raise the profile and improve the appearance of the Council s markets, taking into account the changing shopping patterns Construct new changing rooms in Victoria Park to meet the needs of the improved tennis courts To work with partners to establish a Newbury Arts Council, to support and encourage co-ordination and co-operation between the many different bodies promoting the arts Develop a sensory garden in Victoria Park Provide drinking fountains in locations considered appropriate and cost effective To work with partners to establish a Newbury Sports Council, to support and encourage co-ordination and co-operation between the many different bodies promoting sports When finances and resources permit, take over primary responsibility for all public open spaces Consult residents in the area and prepare a plan for the development of leisure and amenity facilities at City Recreation Ground Oppose the use of Permitted Development rights for change of use to residential in established employment areas, and request the planning authority to seek article 4 directions in this matter Work with West Berkshire District Council to promote and provide signage and footpaths for walking and cycling routes to and from the Town Centre and local schools Newbury Town Council is committed to continuing to make Newbury a better place to live, work and visit.

Floodlighting for new tennis courts Delivered a positive, forward looking Town Plan to inform planning and highways decision making Tourist information now in the Town Hall Drinking water tap to cut plastic pollution Reviewed committee structures and embraced new technologies Dementia awareness training for both councillors and officers Acknowledging contributions made by those who improve our public life Newbury Town Council is committed to continuing to make Newbury a better place to live, work and visit.
