STOP AND THINK. How did you overcome these nervous conditions? Why does this matter now? Why is testing important? What made you nervous about testing?
THE PURPOSE OF EOGS/EOCS The North Carolina End-of- Grade (EOG) and End-of- Course (EOC) tests are designed to measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade-level competencies specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
Assessments: 1. Three i-Ready Diagnostics in math and reading 2. Two NC Check Ins in math and reading BENCHMARKS AT GSA THIS YEAR This year students have completed assessments that have helped them, their teachers, and the GSA school leaders see their strengths and greatest areas of need. Teachers and school leaders analyzed each student s data, remediated/retaught content, and re-assessed students to see their growth and celebrate standards mastery.
DETAILS ABOUT THE FORMAT OF THE END OF THE YEAR TESTS EOGs and EOCs will be accessed online on the NC Test site. Grades 3-8 Reading, Science, and Math EOGs contain multiple choice questions. The math assessment is in two parts: the first part is calculator inactive; the second part is calculator active. Grades 5-8 Mathematics contain numeric entry questions.

TESTING STRATEGIES THAT WE VE REVIEWED THIS YEAR Highlight textual evidence Pace themselves Using multiple choice techniques Read the question/passage multiple times Cross out answers that are incorrect Use context clues Use accommodations if provided in their IEPs, EL Plans, and 504 Plans: Read aloud Student reads aloud to self Dictionary Breaks Extended time Etc.
Review students NC Check In and i-Ready score reports. Review RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS TO USE TO PRACTICE: Practice the NC Test Tutorials and Released Items. This is the site that students will use for their EOG/EOC. Practice Practice NC EOG Released Forms for Reading and Math. Practice Work Work on i-Ready math and reading.
1. You can drop students off as early as 7:30am. Aim to have students at GSA by 7:45am each day. 2. We want to ensure each students has breakfast before testing. Students can have breakfast at home or at GSA. 3. Encourage students to do their best. Encourage them, and get them excited! REMINDERS FOR TESTING DAYS
