  4. Program Priorities Many times coaches and athletes can experience conflict, internally and within the team. Many times it s due to having some confusion about priorities, that is, what is really important in life. This simple outline of the program priorities can answer many questions for parents, players and coaches. When in doubt, consider the program priorities. 1. Family/ Faith I will send a strong message to my players and their families that I do not wish to steal their children away from the family, or interfere with their faith. We will always value each players/coaches time. We will meet with players and parents to communicate that there are sacrifices we will all have to make for the betterment of the football program. There will be a tentative calendar given out in advance for parents to plan around so we can avoid any type of scheduling conflict involving their child. 2.Academics This is the second priority and it will always come before football. We want to be sure each student-athlete will receive a quality education. Great effort in the classroom will create options and freedom in each persons future. You can take athletics away from a person, but you can never take away their education. 3.Football Anytime a player, parent or coach forgets, he will hear me say football is 3rd . Football requires intense mental and physical training and if the other priorities are in order we can more easily be successful on the football field. 4.Fun- It is important that we do not get too consumed in winning and forget that we are leading 14-18 year old men. The game of football is meant to be fun, and we will incorporate activities that allow the team to relax and enjoy each other. The memories and relationships created while playing football is what these young men will remember the most 30 years from now.

  5. Core Values Commitment: Be committed to personal excellence in the classroom, athletics, and in our community. Integrity: Do what is right. Be honest and loyal to parents, coaches, teachers, classmates, and teammates. Pride: It is a personal commitment; it is an attitude which separates excellence from mediocrity. We will strive for excellence in everything we do! Teamwork: Teamwork is achieved when individuals make personal sacrifices to work together for the success of the group. Discipline: Is the instant and willing obedience to all orders, respect for authority, self-reliance and teamwork.

  6. Keys to a Successful Program Have a plan Road Map. The process is much more important than the result. Discipline Must be consistent and fair. The lack of discipline will kill a program. Professional Development Continue to learn and develop as a coach. You are either getting better or worse. Program Involvement Get everyone involved in the program. Everyone has a role. Education Provide academic support and push the students to reach their full academic potential. Quality People Surround yourself with quality people. Positive role models influence character and lay the blueprint for a solid foundation. Set Goals Must have high expectations for everyone in the program. We want to be the best we can be at everything we do. Character Development We will invest ourselves into bettering the lives of everyone in our program. We will be a positive influence on everyone that comes through our program.
