Educational and Professional Requirements Graduate from an accredited program Pass Board of Certification Exam Obtain licensure by Arizona Board of Athletic Training To maintain national certification and state licensure athletic trainers must complete Minimum of 50 hours of continuing education every 2 years Maintain Emergency Cardiac Care certification Athletic Trainers practice under supervising physician standing orders

  5. Domains of Athletic Training Domain 1: Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Protection Domain 3: Immediate and Emergency Care Domain 4: Treatment and Rehabilitation Domain 2: Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis Domain 5: Organizational and Professional Health and Well being

Daily Duties Preparation for practice and games Provide medical services at practices and games Preventative measures including assessments, equipment assessment and fitting Evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation of athletic injuries and illnesses Determine participation status Refer to outside medical providers for further diagnosis and treatment Perform orders from outside medical providers Emergency action planning, risk management and minimization

Daily Duties, continued Administrative duties including, budget, purchasing, scheduling of staff and volunteers, fundraising Physician, parent, student and coach communications Liaison between counselors, teachers, nurses, administration and district personnel Supervise high school student volunteer programs; CTE and non CTE Develop standing orders and other guidelines Clinical preceptor for Athletic Training Education Program - Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona University
