Analysis of Space and Equipment Requirements in LBNF Absorber Hall
Tasked with analyzing available space in the LBNF-30 Absorber Hall between the Overhead Bridge Crane and Absorber Pile. Determining minimum height needed to lift absorber plates and range of crane movement. Assessment includes necessary adjustments for plate movement to the Morgue and removal of shield blocks for access.

Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility LBNF Analysis of Available Space between Overhead Bridge Crane in LBNF-30 Absorber Hall and Absorber Pile Matthew A. Sawtell 13MAY20
Background Have been tasked LBNF Near Site Project Management and C/F to analysis the amount of space available between the Overhead Bridge Crane and the Absorber Pile in the LBNF-30 Absorber Hall Using Conceptual NSCF Design Model done by Beamline, as the 100% NSCF Design by AECOM does not show the proper footings for the Absorber Pile to sit on or configuration of Morgue Will attempt to do analysis later with 30% Final NSCF Design when made available - 100% Prelim NSCF Model (in Pink) 100% Concept NSCF Model (in Orange) 13MAY20 Matthew A. Analysis Minimum Height Needed to lift Absorber Plate from Absorber Pile Plate lifted to be 6 above Absorber Pile Conferring with Technical Managers, need to have a minimum of 20 6 to perform this task 15 for Absorber Plate - 5 for Rotating Hook on - Overhead Crane and Lifting Jig 6 Minimum Clearance for Plate - above Absorber Pile 11MAY20 Matthew A. Range of Overhead Bridge Crane into Absorber Hall This analysis looks at what is necessary to move one plate from Absorber Pile Plate and move it to the Morgue. Additional analysis will be done if deemed necessary by LBNF Near Site Project Management - Analysis does need to be reviewed further by those Technical Managers that are responsible - for Absorber Pile, Morgue, and associated subsystems Morgue Range of Overhead Bridge Crane in Absorber Hall Opening from Absorber Service Building Absorber Pile Shield Blocks FNAL G Block Weight 7.8 U.S. Short Tons Dimensions 18 x 36 x 288 13MAY20 Matthew A. Initial Analysis Number of Shield Blocks needed to be removed to access a typical Absorber Plate With any move to the Morgue, the four shield blocks above it must be moved Depending on location of Plate, number of Shield Blocks to be removed can range from seven to eight blocks Stacking of Blocks, depending of plate to be replaced, will either be at the front or back of the shield pile, most likely two to three wide This will result in stacks that will - be 72 to 108 above the Absorber Pile 13MAY20 Matthew A. Continued Analysis Lowering Replacement Absorber Pile Plate from Service Building Above Plate lifted to be 6 above Opening to Absorber Hall Plate lowered to be 6 above Absorber Pile Need to Confer with Technical Managers on how Plate is to be unhooked from Service Hall Overhead Crane, then hooked to Absorber Hall Overhead Crane At least 15 6 suspended - above Absorber Pile, depending on what lifting jig is being used Plate in Service Building Plate in Absorber Hall 11MAY20 Matthew A.
