This story is about a person who has patience (Ch -san) and a person who is short-tempered (Tanshichi).
People can be attracted to opposites and have a strong friendship with each other.
The characters in this story have opposite personalities but have been friends for a very long time.
Tanshichi: Who is it?.. Who is it that s peeking between the doorway?..
Who is it? If you want to come in just come in.
Dont just stare through thereIts you right? It s Ch -san, right?
It is you Ch-san Hey!! Just come here!
What are you talking about? You knew I was here from the first place. So do you need something?
No, not really. Well, don t just stand there and come on in. Yea I ll come on in
(Ch-san comes inside the house, very slowly)
What do you need? I don t really need anything I was walking outside
and then realized that the doors were slightly opened I wondered, if Tanshichi san was home? Or maybe not?
so I peered in and I found you!
What are you saying? You came by to visit me right? Good thing you came!
I was getting so bored! Oh yea! Do you want to eat some manju (sweet bun)?
I got it from next door, and I normally don t eat sweets..
Do you want to eat it? I m going to put it away if you don t want it
Are you going to eat it?.. yes?no? yes?no?
You are so impatient Stop pestering me. You should take time and enjoy your food.
Okay, fine so what do you think? Tastes good right?
YOOOUUU!!! I can t believe how long it takes for you to eat half of a manju
Give that to me! This is how you should eat it!
Tanshichi-san, you probably get irritated just watching me.. right? You re so short-tempered but I m more patient
Ch-san is so slow with his pipe that it won t light.
but weve been friends since childhood and even to this day we ve never fought once and we get along so well.
What are you talking about? No, we don t get along! You re never going to light that pipe at that speed.
You need to watch the way how I do it! Why can t you do it quickly?
I can do that too Got it!
Ch-san tries to tap out the tobacco but is too slow.
Youre so frustrating to watch! You don t just let the tobacco sit in the pipe for that long, pack once and then inhale once!
Cant you smoke it like this?! Sometimes I m in such a hurry that I tap the tobacco out before lighting it!
Tanshichi... youre so impatient... you don t like... to take advice from other people...do you?
Yea, thats my weak side. Now that you mention it, I don t like to take advice from anyone.
No, no youre different.. weve been friends for a long time! You can say anything to me!
I say what I want to you too! What is it? Tell me! What is it?
You really wont get angry? No, I won t get mad. Just say it.
No! I wont! I m not going to get mad! So, just tell me!
All right...then when you tapped out your pipe just now the spark didn t go into the tray
