Reminder of the KLCBT Mandate Reminder of the KLCBT Mandate As the official representative body of business and tourism in the Kruger Lowveld (Ehlanzeni District), our main mandates are: To promote the region as a tourism and investment destination To provide a diverse suite of networking and marketing opportunities for our members, and To represent and speak on behalf of the business and tourism community of our area. We do this by building meaningful relationships with all spheres of government as well as likeminded organisations, and by acting as liaison between these entities and the business community.

Another brand new picnic-treasure hunt-golf day Familiarisation trip organized by KLCBT & SATSA 5-year Contract with SANparks (but at half revenue) Launching our new booking website is essential Shopping centre membership concept Introduction of regular conferences for tourism trade New fundraising initiatives to succeed in advocacies New administrations at local government Large events like Innibos and the rugby test in Aug.

Relationship with Government Relationship with Government Represent our 1300 members and the whole business community of the Kruger Lowveld (Ehlanzeni Region) on 54 forums, and some ad hoc incident-based interventions in local, district and provincial government Public participation input in draft legislation, budgets, strategies and integrated development plans. Strong focus on service delivery Strategy do develop City Improvement Districts and assist government with using other resources Launched My Mbombela campaign to clean
Safety & Security Safety & Security Chair of the Provincial Tourism Safety Forum Actively engaging in crime prevention and safety of tourists, i.e. hi-jackings on Numbi Road Interventions and fundraising to make areas safer, in a holistic approach Victim Support Programme training and administration Expansion of camera network Anti-Corruption campaign with tourists New Provincial Commissioner & Tourism Policing
Public Attractions and KNP Public Attractions and KNP Driving the successful roll-out of the World Heritage Site development Lobbying to get government land and attractions made available for private development / managem. Roads and Infrastructure Roads and Infrastructure Roads remain a concern, although there was some progress and repairs Joined truckers forums and the Lebombo Border Traffic Committee 24 hour border a great win Electricity security a concern with failing municipalities, establishing technical advisory committees to assist with planning Lobbying to get pool of engineers employed by District to be shared by all local municipalities Interim measure is to combine all technical departments in municipalities
Water Water Bulk water reservoirs a big problem and still lobbying for increased capacity No development possible without water allocation and we have not one litre available to offer Waste water a problem across the region. Assisted in making a pilot case possible to make a municipal manager personally accountable for pollution from a waste water plan case was in court awaiting judgement Water reticulation problems encouraging PPPs like Silulumanzi to be operating in all towns
Environmental Issues Environmental Issues Fighting mining applications almost full-time Expansion of developments with no regard of water rights Pollution issues affecting water supply of the entire region Supporting remedies, like wetlands, etc. Supporting green economies and ensuring inclusion in IDPs Opportunities for municipalities to become less dependent on Eskom and earn more money

Local Tourism Local Tourism Organisations Small Chamber Assistance Small Chamber Assistance Organisations and and We are managing the administration and finances of most LTOs and Small Chambers in the region, total of 21 Our newest editions during the past year were Komatipoort Chamber, My Mbombela and Bees for Keeps Enabling organisations to have professional accounting and governance in place, compliance with all regulations to obtain funding and donations Dual membership fees with KLCBT applies Enabling a better value proposition for members and earning higher membership fees
How do we achieve all of this How do we achieve all of this Funding ourselves, excluding some project participation by EDM and MTPA which was: Co-funding of Z-Card Maps by MTPA and EDM (20% of the cost) Our main revenue is from SANParks commission Commission structure reduced and will by half from 1 May 2022 Creating our own booking websites and complete travel booking office for packages and safaris to Kruger Lowveld currently being developed Revenue from events (was hardly possible in 2021) Revenue from membership fees And generous donations from members continued until April 2021 And with very few people, The LTO and chmaber committees amazing volunteers but they are the legs or our oranisation Sandra Jacobs, Oupa Pilane, Past TJ Mare, myself driving all the advocacies and running the 3 offices, with the able assistance of Zelda Wright, Noleen Pillay, Johnny Hattingh, Nomkhosi Tshabalala and all the other reservations staff KLCBT is all about our team and their selfless dedication. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU AND THE STAFF AT THE OFFICES, WE ARE AND WILL REMAIN THE BEST CHAMBER AND THE BEST RTO IN SOUTH AFRICA
