Eligibility and Tryouts Eligibility Candidates must be currently enrolled at DISD and scheduled to attend Denton HS for 2015-2016 Must not have an outstanding balance with Denton Cheer Program Must attend all tryout clinic days Cheer is scheduled for 1st Block do you have room on your schedule? Tryouts There will be 4 outside judges and I will be the 5th judge. The lowest and highest scores are dropped the middle three are averaged for your judges score Candidates will be offered the option to be spotted on tumbling during their tryout but will be scored accordingly.

  9. Clinic Schedule Thursday- March 12th, 4:30pm-?? Review Mock Tryouts In Audition groups Friday, March 13th Day of Tryouts Arrive dressed by 4:10pm 4:10pm 4:25pm Warm- Up 4:30pm Begin Tryouts! Results posted on Denton High School Cheer Website that evening Monday, March 9th, 4:30pm-6:30pm Dance Tumble pass preparation Showmanship Tuesday, March 10th, 4:30pm-6:30pm Chant/Cheer Male partner stunting Jump technique Random Audition Group Placement numbers given

  10. What to Wear For clinic days (female): Shorts or tights must be able to move freely Spandex under shorts please! Sports bra T-shirt or Tank White Athletic Shoes At least nearly white shoes please You will wear these shoes on tryout day Hair in full ponytail What to wear for Tryout Day (female) Black shorts White shirt Sports bra Group bow White Athletic Shoes Hair up in full ponytail

Male Score Sheet All categories are the same as the female score sheet, except for the dance category Male candidates will be judged on partner stunting, not dance technique Stunt Category 15 points Judged on the following: Technique Strength Agility Timing Partner stunting taught during Skills Classes and the 2nd day of tryout clinic

Video Tryout Option Candidates with prior school sponsored events Parents, please discuss individual circumstances with Coach Swindle prior to March 5, 2015 Eligible candidates will have opportunity to use the Video Tryout Option Video completed during Clinic Week with coaches and administrator Tryout Video viewed and scored by judges on March 13th during tryouts

  14. Fundraisers Chris Rubel will speak at the end of the first meeting after tryouts are completed. We will do whatever we can to assist with fundraising however, it is up to you to put forth the effort to raise funds.

  15. Expenses Cost for being a cheerleader at Denton High School range from $900-$1200 varying from squad to squad and depending on items already purchased. We work with everyone to try to make the payments manageable. All payments for camp will need to be made prior to June 15, 2015 ($329 camp at Great Wolf Lodge plus the cost of camp clothes)

  16. Other Sports/Activities Denton High School Cheer Program will always strive to work with all Denton High School activity and athletic programs in order to help build well-rounded athletes. Camp Info UCA Resort Camp July 27-30 Great Wolf Lodge Learn new cheers, chants, sideline dances for football, volleyball, and basketball season Compete with squads from all over the state An intense 4 days and 3 nights of hard work and fun! All cheerleaders , managers, and mascots must attend this camp.

  18. Parent Commitment Parents and other families members support Denton Cheer Program Coaches and members by: Participate and/or organizing fundraisers to help buy equipment and reward cheerleaders with gifts Responsible for completion of balances upon due date. Support your cheerleader in complying with all regulations and rules of the school and organization. www.dentonisd.org/Denton Arrange Transportation April May practices before or after school depending on squad Fall Practices before school at 8:00am As your cheerleader is committing their time and talent to the program, each parent is committing their time and talent as well.
