  7. Why search outside of LinkedIn Recruiter? LinkedIn Recruiter will not search in: Searching with these filters is buggy: Connections Years of experience and at company Function Seniority Company size Company type Accomplishments like Honors and Awards, Certifications, Patents, and Publications Employer locations Schools by Boolean Attached resumes Attached sites and Twitter Recommendations Self-entered skills Headlines (like open to work ) Two spoken languages with levels Summaries LinkedIn s Dark Matter Undiscovered Profiles People who use relatively straight forward/direct keyword and title searches find the same people as everyone else using the same keywords and titles. Items featured on profiles Organization membership Unemployed Pronouns Names with accented characters What s particularly interesting to me is the fact that everyone running basic, straight forward/direct keyword and title searches also fail to find the people who are there to be found, but cannot be found via straight forward, direct searches. 24. Google Rules For keywords (without the ""), Google looks for synonyms and variations. However: For a word used with the minus -, only this exact word is excluded (but not its variations). For a word following an advanced operator (intitle:, inurl:, etc.), the exact word is used (no variations). Word Order: The word order matters in searching. Google gives higher rank to pages that have the keywords in the same order as in the search string. Pages containing the entered keywords in close proximity will also be ranked higher. You can search a max of 32 Keyword terms.

  25. Boolean Logic (AND, OR, NOT) Operators There is no AND. Don't use it in searching. By default, Google will combine search terms: [apples oranges] OR (must be capitalized) and | (vertical bar) are the same: [apples OR oranges], [apples | oranges] Instead of NOT, use a minus (-) immediately before the term or phrase to exclude: [apples -oranges]

  26. Google Search Operators intitle: Search for keywords or phrases in the title of a web page (the blue text in Google search results): [intitle:"about us"] the phrase "About Us" must appear in the page title [intitle:"member directory" bar association] adding keywords to intitle: search inurl: Search for keywords or phrases in page URLs (the green text in Google search results): [inurl:careers] the word careers must appear in the URL [inurl:directory faculty earth environmental sciences]

  27. Google Search Operators intext: Search for keywords or phrases in the text of a web page (not in the title or URL). [intext:gmail.com] filetype: (can also be written as ext:) - search for a specified file type, such as PDF, DOC, TXT, or XLSX: [filetype:pdf] PDF files [filetype:xlsx] Excel files related: Find sites that are "similar" to the given site. [related:target.com] (finds company competitors) [related:pipl.com] (finds similar tools)

  28. Look for What You Expect to Find (Semantic Search) ["connect with me on LinkedIn" "follow me on twitter"] ["is a Software Engineer at Google"] ["is a member of women in technology"] ["earned her MBA from"] ["What I m doing with my life" "software engineer" inurl:profile]

  29. Search Operators Guide Index.of is simple yet very useful. intitle:index.of resume intitle:index.of inurl:resume intitle:index.of (inurl:Resume OR inurl:CV OR inurl:"curriculum vitae") intitle:index.of (Resume OR CV OR "curriculum vitae") "@ gmail.com intitle:index.of ("internal use only" OR "not for distribution" "not for public distribution" OR "classified")

  31. Mail Merging Tips How to mail merge: https://wizardsourcer.com/how-to-use-mail-merge-to- recruit-candidates/ Don t send more than 20 at a time. If you send the same template at the same time then eventually other email platforms will start to market you domain email as spam. Use tools to track your deliverability: Mail-Tester (Basic) Spam Check from PostMark (Basic) GlockApps (Advanced) On average 51% of emails never reach the inbox! So where do they go? 26% go to spam or junk folders and 25% are never delivered

  32. My Process: Being Human First reach out: answer the question of WHY? What s the reason you REALLY want to connect with them. How can you GRAB there attention? Average time someone reads an email is 30-60 seconds. Second reach out: peak there interest Follow up state the why you are following up and focus more on the team and skill sets. Use video/graphics something funny or engaging. Third/fourth reach out: conclusion Conclude on why you wanted to originally connect with them. Create the final sense of urgency. [This will be my last email] Get them to apologize
