  1. The word Guru is derived from two words gu and ru. Gu means darkness and ru means remover of darkness. This day is observed by offering pooja to their Guru.

  2. It is a tradition dedicated to all the spritiual and academic Gurus, who are ready to share their wisdom with no expectation.

  3. This day is celebrated in honour of the great sage Vyasa who is seen as one of the greatest guru.
