  8. SMS Great Kindness Challenge 2022 SMS Great Kindness Challenge 2022 We are very proud of our SMS students and staff for participating in the annual GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE last week! This is a national event where schools complete as many random acts of kindness as possible within the week. We saw many students thanking our custodial staff, making cards for the cafeteria workers, leaving notes of thanks for our school nurses and others. We saw students pushing in chairs and picking up trash, helping new students, as well as complimenting peers and sending thank you notes to teachers. We hope this is just the beginning! We encourage all of our students to continue this wave of kindness through the school every day.

  9. SMS as a full school completed 6,400 KIND acts in one week! Congratulations to 8TH GRADE for completing the most kind acts at 3,476! 19. STUDENT BECOMES ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY! Here is what is involved in becoming AP for the Day: Who is Eligible? Any student that has received a High-Five or Positive Referral Verification of choice is made with Classroom Teacher ~ is the student a 5 Core student? When does this happen? A drawing is held the last week of the month. What will happen? Once chosen, teachers are contacted to make sure the choice is appropriate and the student will be asked if they would like to participate. The good news and a plan for the day is then shared with the family and participation permission is sought. The student then gets to spend day with the Assistant Principal performing very important AP duties. The following are pages from Caleb Samia s day as Assistant Principal for the Day !
