Psalm 103 1Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits 3who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle s. 6The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
Psalm 103 7He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: 8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; 14for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. 15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; 16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children s children 18with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
Psalm 103 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul.

Mark 6:30 Mark 6:30- -34 34 30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest. 32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.33But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
Compassion: Compassion: Jesus s Example Jesus s Example 30 - The Disciples have been hard at work 31 - Jesus invites them to rest Mark 1:35 very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all you who are weary & burdened, & I will give you rest. 32-34 The crowds follow; Jesus has compassion on them too Splagchnizomai deeply moved; indignant; a gut reaction of pity, love
Mark 6:35 Mark 6:35- -38 38 35By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. This is a remote place, they said, and it s already very late.36Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat. 37But he answered, You give them something to eat. They said to him, That would take more than half a year s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat? 38 How many loaves do you have? he asked. Go and see. When they found out, they said, Five and two fish.

Mark 6:39 Mark 6:39- -44 44 39Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42They all ate and were satisfied,43and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.44The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

Mark 14:22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take it; this is my body. 42-44 from not enough to leftovers

Discussion Questions Discussion Questions Jesus showed compassion for His disciples by leading them to rest. Is there a time and place where you can retreat to pray and connect with God? Jesus calls us to have compassion on others, and can use us as we are. Can you think of a present need that you are able to meet for others?
