  2. QUALITY writing begins with QUALITY sentences.

  3. Back to the basics---- A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.

  4. A sentence must have a subject and a verb.

  5. A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with the proper punctuation.

  6. Any punctuation required within the sentence must be properly placed. **The writer must know the rules for commas.
