Modifier Dangling Modifiers By Kendal Orrantia
Definition Dangling modifier = a phrase that is improperly placed and modifies the wrong noun in a sentence
Examples INCORRECT: Upset about losing, the bus drove the Duke team home. CORRECT: Upset about losing, the Duke team rode home on the bus.

Examples INCORRECT: Wearing new shoes, the fans cheered about Roy s new look. CORRECT: Wearing new shoes, Roy was cheered on by the crowd.

Fixing Dangling Modifiers Rearrange the sentence. Put the modifier and the intended noun as close as possible. Ask who or what is doing the action. Write in the active voice.
