  2. Why are you tempted to sin? No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

  3. Matthew 4:12 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

  4. Matthew 4:34 Then the tempter approached him and said, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. He answered, It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

  5. What is temptation? Temptation is a power that pulls your mind and heart towards a sinful desire and away from obedience to God. Who tempts us? Satan does, but mostly our sin nature or flesh. When are we tempted? When we are spiritually, physically, or emotionally weak. How are we tempted? Our hearts are drawn away and enticed by evil desires Why are we tempted? To indulge our flesh and distance our relationship with God.

  6. Matthew 4:57 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, (6) and said to him, If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: He will give his angels orders concerning you, and they will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 7 Jesus told him, It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God.

  7. James 1:34 You know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

  8. Matthew 4:811 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. And he said to him, I will give you all these things if you will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus told him, Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him. Then the devil left him, and angels came and began to serve him.

  9. James 4:78 Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

  10. How to overcome temptation: Watch & Pray 1. Know the Bible and claim the power of God s Word. 2. Know yourself and when you are tempted. 3. Pray to be delivered from temptation. 4. Remember that Jesus has given you the victory.

  11. Hebrews 4:1516 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.
