  2. Early Life James Armistead had a bad early life He was born on December 10th 1748 in New Kent Virginia He was born into slavery and he had to work for a slave owner at age 3 He got separated from his mother at age 2

He died on august 9 1830 age 68 His full name is James Armistead Lafayette, he got this name because at the end of the war he was still working as a slave, and the general Lafayette (somebody he worked with in the war) got him out of slavery. He was used on both the America side and the British side. He was a double spy.
