Teachers Union of Ireland Education Conference Key factors in developing curriculum. 1. TUI members will continue to embrace new initiatives /policies but they must be appropriate for implementation in the classroom environment in Ireland 2. The school curriculum is fully loaded. Space must be created to allow for any new initiatives. 3. Teachers are 110% busy, they cannot absorb additional workload. 4. Additional resources will be required to affect positive change. 5. The independence of the examination coupled with state certification has served Irish education well, it must not be diluted or abandoned. 6. We must move away from the CAO point system as a measure of education outcome 7. Teachers are the experts. Listen to them!
