Class of 2023 and Beyond Graduation Requirements
General Graduation Requirements 4 credits of English/ Language Arts 4 credits of Math 3 credits of Social Studies (World History, Am. History, Government) 3 credits of Science (Physical, Biology + 1) 0.5 credit of PE ( .25 for each semester at Southern) 0.5 credit of Health 1 Fine Art or Career-Tech Pathway 6 Electives
Competency in Algebra and English Earn a competency score (684) on Ohio s high school Algebra I and English II tests. Students who do not score competent must retake the test at least once before seeking alternative pathway.
What happens if I am not competent IN Algebra and English Test ? Option 1 Option 1 Career-Tech Pathway Demonstrate Two Career-Focused Activities* Foundational Proficient scores on WebXams A 12-point industry credential A pre-apprenticeship or acceptance into an approved apprenticeship program Supporting Activities Work-based learning Earn the required score on WorkKeys Earn the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal Career-Tech Pathway
What happens if I am not competent inthe Algebra and English Test ? Option 2 Option 2 Military Show evidence that you have signed a contract to enter a branch of the U.S. armed services upon graduation.
What happens if I am not competent the Algebra and English Test ? Option 3 Option 3 College Credit Plus Earn credit for one college-level math and/ or college-level English course through Ohio s free College Credit Plus program.
Student Graduation Plan Go back to the Student Graduation Plan and think about your options select what option you think might work for you. Go to sheet 2 at the bottom and select courses and electives that might work for you.
Diploma Seals In addition to the general requirements and the test/pathway, ALL students must also complete 2 diploma seals. These seals give you the chance to demonstrate academic, technical and professional skills and knowledge that align to your passions, interests and planned next steps after high school.
