The CPIC Informatics Working Group focuses on the informatics aspects of CPIC guidelines and the clinical implementation of pharmacogenetics. This group aims to support the adoption of CPIC guidelines by addressing technical barriers and creating translation tables from genotype to phenotype to clinical recommendation. Members work closely with CPIC leadership to facilitate guideline implementation in electronic environments, develop clinical decision support rules, and collaborate with EMR vendors on guideline incorporation. The group's efforts aim to enhance the utilization of CPIC guidelines in clinical practice.

  1. CPIC Informatics Working Group

  2. CPIC Informatics Working Group Growing interest in informatics aspects of CPIC guidelines and clinical implementation of pharmacogenetics Working group will create a forum for discussion and collaboration focused on informatics issues Goal To support the adoption of the CPIC guidelines by identifying, and resolving where possible, potential technical barriers to the implementation of the guidelines within a clinical electronic environment.

  3. Organization Subgroup within CPIC Close coordination with CPIC leadership Regular updates on monthly call Members of working group must be CPIC members and follow MOU Working group leaders Bob Freimuth (Mayo Clinic) James Hoffman (St. Jude) Michelle Carrillo (PharmGKB)

  4. CPIC Informatics Working Group: Initial Goal Create comprehensive translation tables from genotype to phenotype to clinical recommendation for CPIC guidelines Define structure and process to efficiently develop and maintain in the most useful format(s) Will be published as part of CPIC guidelines and posted on PharmGKB Will collaborate with and support PGRN TPP

  5. CPIC Informatics: Supporting Guideline Implementation Guideline Development and Publication Guideline Adoption and Implementation CPIC TPP Coordinate Refinements Feedback from Local Implementations CPIC Informatics Creation and Maintenance of Translation Tables Genotype Human-readable Structured text Formal knowledge representation Phenotype Recommendation

  6. CPIC Informatics Working Group: Other Opportunities Facilitate the incorporation of CPIC guidelines in clinical electronic references (e.g., Epocrates) Develop recommendations for Clinical Decision Support (CDS) rules based on the CPIC guidelines Work with EMR vendors to incorporate CPIC guidelines and related information into EMRs Work with standards development organizations to create content to support the CPIC guidelines (e.g., terms to define metabolizer status) Generate computable representations of the CPIC guidelines using formal knowledge representation and standard terminologies

  7. Participation in CPIC Informatics Open to all CPIC members Get on the email list Send an email to Bob, James, and Michelle Conference call schedule TBD
