  1. Assessment Office Hours Friday March 12, 2021 Please post questions you may have in the chat box we will work to answer them during the session and add them to a Q & A document. We will begin shortly.

  3. Updates - NAEP NAEP 2021 School Survey Study (Online) Special study related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education Who? Principals or their delegates at NAEP 2021 Sampled Schools No Student Questionnaires Timeline Completed monthly through the end of the school year 30 minutes to complete Submission of January data due today, March 12th, by midnight Next Submission March 22 - 26 3rd submission April 19 23 (NCES alerted regarding School Vacation week) For additional assistance Resources for assistance with attendance rate questions are available on request NAEP helpdesk phone: 800-283-6237 or email: naephelp@westat.com

  4. MSAA and MSAA Science Administration window is March 15-May 14 TCs should confirm their student rosters in the MSAA System. Training modules must be completed before TA/TC can access the assessments. Alternate snapshot will be taken on March 19th.

  5. ACCESS & Alternate ACCESS for ELLs 5 weeks remaining in the assessment window. With the challenges to administration this year, DOE continues to advise that districts continue their good faith efforts to assess, when safely feasible, the assessment sessions as soon as possible. Completed writing test booklets, grades 1-3, should be sent back to DRC ASAP.

Updates New Meridian Contract Science Extension of administration window 5/17 - 6/11/2021 Weekly meetings with vendor continue as we gather information on timelines, manuals, accessibility/accommodations, resources and technology New Science webpage now open where all materials will be posted when available https://www.maine.gov/doe/Testing_Accountability/MECAS/Generalscience

  7. Maine Science Assessment Sessions There will be 3 sessions for each grade 5, 8 and HS. It is recommended to administer in order. All sessions, including make- ups, must be completed by close of window 6/11/21 In addition to the assessment sessions, there will be the usual student survey questionnaire embedded into the online platform. Teacher/educator surveys may come separately as a survey TBD

Updates NWEA Contract Math & ELA/Literacy Official announcement released 3/9/21 Weekly meetings with vendor continue as we gather information on timelines, manuals, accessibility/accommodations, resources and technology SAU User Agreement to be sent beginning 3/12/21 Deadline to submit 3/19/21 (will be cc'd to DACs) Math & ELA/Literacy NWEA webpage now open where all materials will be posted when available https://www.maine.gov/doe/Testing_Accountability/MECAS/NWEA

  9. Updates Current SAU users Continue to administer the MAP Growth assessment on their locally determined timeline or schedule. Students will be required to participate in the assessment only once during the assessment window: March 1 June 15 NWEA will be directly reaching out to SAUs regarding reimbursement of associated costs for students grades 3- 8, second and third year of high school schools will have access to use the assessment with second year of high school students, should they choose Completion and return of SAU User Agreement regarding data-sharing via DocuSign by 3/19

NWEA WELCOME EMAIL: please complete all onboarding tasks included in the email Complete the onboarding registration Register for professional learning using the links provided by NWEA

NWEA Sessions NWEA MAP Growth is a suite of assessments Spring 2021 Maine will be administering: Mathematics (required) Math 2-5 for grades 3, 4, 5 Math 6+ for grades 6-8 & HS Reading (required) Reading 2-5 for grades 3, 4, 5 Reading 6+ for grades 6-8 & HS Language Use (optional this spring and will be required fall 2021 and spring 2022)

  12. NWEA Sessions Administered to eligible students grades 3-8 and 3rd year HS however available to 2nd year HS students OPTIONAL Within the NWEA platform, it is possible to administer sessions more than once, however one administration of each session should be given during the spring window. DOE will be constructing a decision rule to apply for instances when it may be necessary for sessions to be repeated ('retest policy')
