Instruments like Stereomicroscope, Comparison Microscope, and Borescope are used for individual examination, side-by-side comparison, superimposition, and analysis of barrels in forensic investigations. Comparison microscopes are used for examining fired cartridge cases but have limitations such as being manual, tedious, and time-consuming. On the other hand, borescopes offer a different approach for analyzing the barrel with full and side views. These tools play a crucial role in detecting projectile velocity and analyzing databases in crime labs.
