  2. Tank car construction Fuel tank cars are very capacious tanks used for transporting petrol, diesel or heating oil. Their construction is carefully thought out, so that transport is not only safe for road users, but also for the environment. Tankers must meet a long list of requirements, precisely to protect the transported fuels from uncontrolled leakage and contamination of soil or water. In addition, they must be very robust, so that in the event of a road collision or other situation that could lead to damage to its structure and prevent leakage. 3. Diesel tank car construction Most tankers are constructed from aluminium alloys. Some models may be constructed from carbon or boiler steels. This results in a melting point of 640 C for aluminium tankers. Tanks have cross-sections of various shapes, but the most common are round, trunk or oval. On both sides, the cisterns are topped with bottoms. In the middle, breakwalls are fitted to minimise the liquid inertia phenomenon occurring during starting and braking. In addition, these inner walls make the tank rigid and resistant to crushing. The breakwaters are fitted with additional openings that allow the fuel to overflow freely in the event of the structure tipping over. The volume of liquid between the breakwaters is no more than 7,500 L or the distance between them should be no more than 1,750 mm. Cistern models constructed from aluminium have walls 5-5.5 mm thick and steel 4-4.2 mm thick. 4. Diesel tank car construction The tankers are equipped with numerous hatches and valves for refuelling, as well as for emptying the tank. This task is facilitated by a built-in pump. There is also a sensor inside the tanker that indicates the filling level when the tank is refuelled. In addition, there may be a computer with a printer on board to provide readings when the goods are unloaded.
