ACE PROGRAM ACE is a K-6 grade specific curriculum Academic Lessons 9 lessons focusing on aerospace that support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) Character Education 6 lessons that promote good character Physical Education 6 lessons that encourage students to become physically fit

  9. ADOPT-A-CLASSROOM A FREE program for any 6th grade classroom teacher from a public or private accredited school. (If a 5th, 7th , or 8th grade teacher is interested, they are welcome!) The purpose is to build relationships between teachers and CAP squadrons that stimulates interest in aerospace-related STEM subjects and careers for students. To become a part, teachers register for the CAP s Aerospace Connections in Education (ACE) program and then request of adopt@capnhq.gov to have the closest CAP squadron s adults and cadets provide virtual or in-person (as is appropriate) classroom ACE lesson support, student mentorship, and introduction to CAP. To become involved, teachers basically have the CAP adult and cadets teach a minimum of 3 lessons for your students (either virtually or in-person to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions) and provide all the free materials for each of your students!

AEX PROGRAM AEX is a free program to its members that involves engaging and interesting hands-on aviation and space-related STEM activities AEX participants receive numerous full-color books that feature standards-driven aerospace/STEM activities. The requirements for full implementation are simple: complete six aerospace/STEM activities and one two-hour or longer field experience * (space day, rocket, hot air balloon, or airplane launches, trip to the airport or an aerospace museum, etc.). The activities are designed to fit into any curriculum. Schools' state- approved curriculum may replace or supplement the AEX activities created for this program.

  11. TEACHER ORIENTATION PROGRAM FLIGHTS One of the most exciting benefits of being a Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Member (AEM) is the opportunity to take a Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) flight in a CAP airplane, with an experienced CAP pilot, at a local airport. This exhilarating program includes a pre-flight briefing, an actual airplane flight, and educational applications to share with students! Taking videos and/or photos to share the experience with students, OR, even live-streaming this flight, will transfer flight excitement to youth in hopes of greater interest in STEM subjects using the aviation theme.

  13. ANGLEGS Students will learn how to classify shapes and angles using the AngLegs STEM Kit. This collection comes with six sets of AngLegs, two snap-on protractors, a set of activity cards, and a plastic tote. Cadets and students will become familiar with angles and move toward an exploration of angles, measurements, and figures while classifying these shapes. Each kit will have enough materials provided for a traditionally-sized class or group of youth.

  14. ASTRONOMY For beginning astronomers to experienced stargazers, these lightweight, portable Celestron telescopes will work well with cadets and/or students. Added to the durable telescopes will be astronomy lessons, a CD with planetarium software for becoming familiar with the night sky, and accessories to adjust magnitude and vision.

  15. BEE-BOT/CODE & GO MOUSE Bee-Bot/Code & Go Mouse STEM Kit is designed to teach young children sequencing, coding, problem-solving and so much more. Instructors can use Bee-Bot/Code & Go Mouse to introduce, teach and reinforce a variety of subjects. There is also a tip sheet with three lessons and additional suggestions to guide the recipients in implementing the wide range of Bee-Bot/Code & Go Mouse lessons.

  16. BRIDGE BUILDING The Bridge Building pack contains enough materials for 24 cadets/students to build and test their very own bridges. While working on this kit, cadets/students will be challenged to design structurally sound bridges while using problem solving skills to implement changes in their design. Cadets/students will study the properties of physics and its place in structural engineering.

  17. BUILD & LEARN GEOMETRY The Build & Learn Geometry STEM Kit is perfect for students to practice identifying shapes, solving area and perimeter equations, and finding the volume of geometric figures. The complete Build & Learn Geometry set includes a total of 52 activity cards and over 600 pieces for students to use to build geometric figures from every angle. There will be three sets included in the kit: Geometry; Volume; and Area & Perimeter. This kit aids students in visualizing, building, and manipulating geometric figures -- deepening their understanding of geometry every step of the way!

  18. CROSS COUNTRY NAVIGATION The thrill of flying is achieved through personal accomplishments and comes with unparalleled excitement and freedom with the Cross Country Navigation STEM Kit. Included in the kit are Gleim Pilot Handbook, Gleim Private Pilot Knowledge Test, Cross Country Flight activity guide, New York sectional chart, two E6B flight computers, and two navigational plotters.

  19. FLIGHT SIMULATOR The kit includes yoke, rudder pedals, and Lockheed Martin s Prepar3D software. The hands-on approach is designed to spark an interest in flying, especially for ages 12 and above.

  20. HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING The Pathfinders Hydraulics 4-in-1 pack contains four hydraulics kits in one box. The simple machine series is designed as a hands-on introduction to hydraulics and simple machines. Most models stand between 18 and 24 cm high when fully extended and can hold things like a glass of milk, toys, and other items. The four types of wooden hydraulic machines use a small number of syringes (pistons), wooden frames, surgical tubing, and liquid. This kit is designed to introduce students to levers/linkages and hydraulic fluid power. Building the four machines (cherry picker, excavator, scissor lift and platform lifter) may inspire learners to design machines of their own.

  21. NEWBEEDRONE The NewBeeDrone AcroBee Lite RTF (Ready to Fly) FPV Drone kit features the AcroBee Lite as well as the super durable cockroach frame. This FPV Drone kit includes everything you need to build and fly a NewBeeDrone AcroBee Lite. Build your drone, switch on the included receiver, plug in a battery to your quad, follow the bind procedures, turn on your goggles and fly! The NewBeeDrone STEM kit is compact and portable, easy to charge, and all the components fit perfectly inside the included carrying case.

  22. QUADCOPTER Use the Revolution Vizo XL to teach beginners the joy of flying. Students learn to navigate the skies, while becoming skilled in teamwork activities, eye-hand coordination, motor skills and a variety of disciplines in and out of the classroom. Students can even experiment with simple modifications of the quadcopter to allow for drone racing and obstacle courses. Included with the quadcopter will be a CAP Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Activity Booklet, remote control transmitter, an extra battery and a battery charger.

  23. RASPBERRY PI Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer that promotes the teaching of basic computer science. This tiny, affordable computer can be used to learn programming through fun, practical projects. Students will use introductory lessons to begin the process of cultivating their knowledge about Computer Science. After mastering these skills, students will be able use previously gained wisdom to explore new avenues in the computer world.

  24. READY TO FLY QUADS The Hubsan X4 Plus RTF Quadcopter is a tiny, handheld, ready-to-fly multi-rotor model that can be flown indoors. Transmitter, prop guards, flight battery and USB charger plus battery bags and extra blades are included. The Civil Air Patrol Unmanned Aerial Vehicle booklet is included.

  25. REMOTE-CONTROLLED AIRCRAFT This simple model building and experimentation with flying will lead to learning to fly remote-controlled aircraft via a Real Flight Simulator computer program, a hand-held controller, two Skystreak balsa planes and a Mini Apprentice, the remote- controlled aircraft -- all of which are included in this kit.

  26. RENEWABLE ENERGY The K'nex Renewable Energy STEM Kit will bring a hands-on approach to the understanding of solar, hydro and wind energy. Students will investigate concepts by constructing working models out of the 583 parts enough to build three solar, three hydro and three wind models at the same time. This kit allows participants to work cooperatively while building, problem-solving, discussing, designing and evaluating energy sources. Concepts built with this kit will enhance knowledge of renewable energy that can lead to careers in engineering, technology and/or science.

  27. ROBOTICS This kit will have a robotic arm, USB programmable software, curriculum, and instructional video. Tapping the expertise of robotics experts will help guide students toward exciting career possibilities- AND- provide some assistance and guidance in building and using this robotic arm.

  28. ROCKETRY This kit will provide "beginning" Alpha III rockets, A8-3 motors- 2 for each rocket, launch pad, controller, curriculum, and instructional video to initiate this invigorating program.

  29. SNAPTRICITY With the Snap Circuits Snaptricity, students use hands-on activities to exhibit how electricity and magnetism can be used to make each other. Using the kit, magnetic fields can be demonstrated, along with electricity in homes, parallel circuits and how switches work. Snaptricity includes a motor, lamps, switches, fan compass, electrodes in conjunction with over 40 parts.

  30. SPHERO MINI/SPHERO SPRK+ The Sphero Mini/Sphero SPRK+ STEM Kit is more than robots. It's a learning experience that inspires students through hands-on activities. The Mini/SPRK+ work with the Sphero Edu app to motivate, create and excite users in the field of coding and programming. Mini/SPRK+ can paint, swim and/or dance with the help of the Sphero Edu app and student imagination. This STEM Kit will instill coding and programming enjoyment in students while launching career paths toward coding, programming and computer engineering.

  31. WEATHER STATION With the Acu-Rite Professional Weather Station, learners can measure rainfall, barometric pressure, wind speed and more. The station also includes programmable weather alarms. Users will need to download the FREE My Backyard Weather Software & App to utilize the Weather Station to its fullest potential. Self-calibrating forecasting provides your personal forecast of weather conditions for 12 to 24 hours by collecting data from the sensor at your facility.
