This proposal discusses the inclusion of Subscription Transfer methods starting from the old Primary Device in TS.43 standards. It highlights the benefits of initiating transfers from the old device, such as enhanced security with EAP-AKA authentication and improved user experience. The proposal suggests additional parameters for Subscription Transfer with OAuth/OpenID to support decision-making and profile management. The call flow outlines the process of invoking delete requests to remove profiles and facilitate transfer confirmation.

  1. GSMA TSGVVEC#21 TS.43 WI Contribution on Subscription Transfer via old Primary Device May 13, 2020 Samsung

  2. Subscription Transfer via old Primary Device Overview Current state of TS.43 TS.43 v5.0 defines Subscription Transfer methods on On-Device Activation via the Primary ODSA client application. Clause 8.3 provides Subscription Transfer with OTP Clause 8.4 provides Subscription Transfer with OAuth/OpenID Problem statement: Both cases only consider Subscription Transfer starting from ODSA Client on new Primary Device. In the real world situation, however, an end-user may initiate Subscription Transfer either from new Primary Device or old Primary Device. Thus, the case starting from old Primary Device should be considered. Some benefits are expected using Subscription Transfer starting from old Primary Device such as: End-user can initiate Subscription Transfer from old Primary Device MNO can use EAP-AKA More secured authentication method than SMS-OTP More convenient user experience than Open ID MNO could ensure to delete current Profile installed on the old Primary Device 2

  3. Subscription Transfer via old Primary Device Call Flow Proposal for TS.43 Green-colored text: Additional parameters or changes compared to the existing Clause 8.4 provides Subscription Transfer with OAuth/OpenID Objects to give additional info to ECS to help the decision on use of EAP_AKA and deleting a Profile. Each Object carries profile_status: Enabled , Disabled old_terminal: True , False Auth_Token obtained via EAP-AKA authentication Additional Object: delete_profile: True , False 3

  4. Subscription Transfer via old Primary Device Call Flow (Cont) Proposal for TS.43 Green-colored text: Additional parameters or changes compared to the existing Clause 8.4 provides Subscription Transfer with OAuth/OpenID If delete_profile = True , then, ODSA Client invokes delete request to LPA (via LPA API) ECS gets IMEIeSIM and ICCIIDeSIM of new Primary Device from BSS/OSS directly NOT from new Primary Device. As a return, ECS sends back SubscriptionID and ICCIDeSIM of the new Primary Device to the BSS/OSS 4
