CILT INDIABusiness Plan CILT INDIA in its mission of enhancing the art & science of Logistics & Transport is focussing on reducing the Skill Gap in this field and aligning itself with the Skill India Mission of the Government of India. To this end CILT INDIA has collaborated with Bureau of Indian Standards for establishing benchmarks for Training, and Logistics Skill Council for crafting Curriculum for Training to meet the Indian industry needs. A three-pronged approach of Growth, Capacity Building and Governance has been incorporated. 4 www.ciltinternational.org

5. Transportation and Logistics in INDIA India s logistics industry has witnessed an exponential growth in the last few years. Now contributing to around 14% of our country s total GDP, the logistics market in India is expected to move up to a staggering $ 301.89 billion by 2020, serving as a backbone to the economy. As India becomes more open to trade and investment in recent years, the need for logistics services is also increasing proportionately, providing more opportunities for service providers. Investing in this industry is a good idea as it is still in development stage. Strong growth supported by government reforms, transportation sector development plans, growing retail sales, and the e-Commerce sector are likely to be the key drivers of the logistics industry in India. Advancements in digital technologies, changing consumer preferences due to e-Commerce, government reforms, and shift in service sourcing strategies are expected to lead the transformation of the Indian logistics ecosystem. The logistics market in India is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 10.5% between 2019 and 2025. It has been awarded infrastructure status which has made it easier for investment inflows and has become a major growth driver of the logistics industry. E-Commerce is another major segment that is expected to support the growth of the logistics industry during the forecast period. It is necessary to realize that the benefits in logistics industry can be brought about by the companies by establishing training intuitions, so that there is improvement in the overall service quality of the sector. 5 www.ciltinternational.org

Challenges for the industry in INDIA Probably one of the most significant challenges faced by the industry today is the insufficient integration of information technology in transport networks, warehousing and distribution processes. Besides, regulations in our country exist at a number of different tiers imposed by national, regional and local authorities. Last-mile delivery for e- commerce continues to be a pain-point, even for the established delivery companies. Also, the industry is facing a shortage of skilled human resource with sound operational and technical knowledge of supply chain management, both at practical level as well as at higher strategic level, in-turn making it difficult to employ latest technologies to the benefit of the customers. 6 www.ciltinternational.org

7. Opportunities Tech-driven solutions for this sector are getting better and smarter with every passing day, addressing various pain points in the supply chain in India. By using tech-aggregation models reduce the problem of fragmentation. Solutions built on artificial intelligence can assist in designing route optimization for vehicles and optimum utilization of their assets. Real-time GPS-based vehicle tracking has introduced transparency and reliability. Technology is also helping in the reduction of a lot of paperwork. Post-GST implementation, it is predicted that swift billing will become quite essential for customers to claim GST input credits. CILT India is assisting the Logistics Department in formalizing the use of Double stack & Dwarf Containers for capacity building in railways. 8. CILT INDIA Vision 2020 - 2021 GROWTH: CILT INDIA will extend its full support to governmental efforts in enhancing the efficiency of this sector including all modes. Our National Chairman, is a member of the Governing Council of LSC, NSDC, Government of India and assists in framing policies for skill development. CILT INDIA is also a member of the advisory group formed by the Bureau of Indian Standards to chalk out the policy for benchmarking all aspects of Logistics & transportation. Taking the opportunity of weak training facilities- CILT INDIA has created highly specialized training programs for Food Logistics and Rail Logistics. We are also assisting The Logistics Skill Council to create curriculum for BMS ( Land Transportation)- Bachelor of Management ( Land Transportation). CILT INDIA has made in-roads for training at the Entry level as well. Under the Skill India Mission for upliftment of under privileged class, training for Loco Pilots and Siding Maintenance Operator for Rail Transportation have been adopted by LSC and Workmen for Food Industry by IRCTC. 8 www.ciltinternational.org

9. CILT INDIA Vision 2020 - 2021 CAPACITY BUILDING CILT INDIA is all set to improve its visibility and expand the membership base through Webinars and virtual meetings. Regional Chapters are being constituted a chapter in Kolkatta (East India) & another in Ahmedabad (West India) already exist; There is plan to have one in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam & Bangalore. Our annual feature of an International Conference is organized generally in the month of November at New Delhi, due to Covid times this may not materialize. We have in place organized Four Webinars, that saw large attendance of the Logistics community. 9 www.ciltinternational.org

CILT INDIA Vision 2020 - 2021 A webinar of WILAT is being organized on 26th September on Leveraging Technology for Logistics & Transport in post Covid era to motivate women engaged in the area of Transport & Logistics. Efforts to increase the membership base is a continuous process. ( PRCL- logistics company- Corporate member). Integration with Prolific and SLMT is in-progress. Our major business in our capacity as Territory of CILT International is in doldrums and is a major concern because the road map for restoration is not clear. CILT INDIA VISION 2019 - 2020 GOVERNANCE CILT India has signed an MOU with the Department of Logistics, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India as a follow up a Think Tank of Logistics professionals is being formed. CILT India has a place of prominence in the Logistics Division of the Ministry issues relating to collaboration and furthering the cause of CILT as a consulting body is being discussed. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha is now The Patron for CILT INDIA. Mr. Sivasailam, ex. Secretary Logistics is an Honorary Member. 11 www.ciltinternational.org
