Detailed Design for Upgrading Saliran Kawasan Kg. Tradisi Puchong - Kg. Kuala Sg. Baru

2. INTRODUCTION The State Government of Selangor (the Government) through its implementing agency, Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Selangor (JPS), requires engineering consultancy services to prepare a study and detailed design for preparation of tender for REKABENTUK TERPERINCI BAGI KERJA-KERJA KAWASAN KG TRADISI PUCHONG - KG KUALA SG BARU, DAERAH PETALING, SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN MENAIKTARAF SALIRAN The detailed design of the flood mitigation works up to and including the preparation of the final tender documents shall be completed within EIGHT (8) months from the date of commencement of Services. Construction Stage: The consultant shall assist JPS Selangor during the construction stage in any matter that arises regarding to project implementation, design, drawings and etc. The consultant shall provide adequate home office support through the construction period until the issuance of Certificate of Completion of Making Good Defects (CMGD) of the project.

3. BACKGROUND Puchong is located in the Petaling District which is about 20 km from the capital of Selangor, Shah Alam. It is connected to other parts of the Klang Valley via the Damansara-Puchong Highway and the Sungai Besi Highway. It covers an area of 100 km sq which falls under the jurisdiction of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council. SG KLANG Flood Area PINTU AIR KG KUALA SG BARU

4. BACKGROUND Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru is one of the traditional villages in Puchong. This village area often experiences flash floods more than 4 times a year due to insufficient size of the drainage system and missing links. It will get worse in during high tide event. In addition, flash floods are also due to the rapid development situation which has resulted in less water permeable areas where low-lying areas that hold water are backfilled for development. Therefore, a detailed and comprehensive study needs to be done to identify the best methods to overcome floods in the affected areas. To resolve the flooding problems within the area, Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Selangor requires engineering preparation of drainage study and detailed design for Kampung Tradisi Puchong - Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru area and surrounding area. The study proposed by the consultant has to take into consideration the implementation of Urban Stormwater Mangement Manual (MSMA) and Hydrological Procedure (HP). consultancy services for

5. OBJECTIVE The objective of this consultancy service is to prepare detailed design and tender table documents for the purpose of implementing storm water management and upgrading of drainage system project in flood prone areas along Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru area and surrounding area.

6. PROJECT OBJECTIVE a) Based on the rapid development, exploration of the area and increasing population density, the drainage system in the area/ Basin of Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru needs to be upgraded to further reduce the problem of frequent floods. Upgrading this Drainage System if implemented will reduce the risk of loss of residents, traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, ranchers and public property. b) Study of pond needs c) Upgrading of drainage system d) Upgrading of outlet structure e) Study of pump system/ pump house/ gates requirements
