  5. Students experience of COVID-19 3 weeks ago I was so anxious that I felt like taking my own life. The anxiety was because I had lost my job due to COVID and didn t know how I would pay rent or buy food. This anxiety stopped me from being able to sleep or study and I therefore fell behind in my studies, I then became more anxious because, if I can t pass my units, I can t continue to study in Australia. I felt like I had no one to talk to about this because as I wasn t allowed to see anyone in person. International student 22/4/20 I am worried about my family in India, and can t stop thinking about them. I live in a share house and no one practices hygiene and I am always thinking about catching the virus. International student 2/4/20 There are so many people living in this house all couped up. I can t take the arguments, I saw my mother and sister fighting and it bought back the way my father would hit me. I ran to my room and had thoughts that I want to die. I rang Lifeline. They suggested I see if I could link in with uni counselling Female domestic student 5/5/20 My anxiety and depression got a lot worse I lost so many things I didn t even realise usually keep me going, I was losing my mind Female domestic student 14/5/20 Deakin University CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B
