  1. The Lord Reigns in the Darkness Psalm 97:1-12

  2. Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Psalm 97:2 NRSV

  3. Then Solomon said, The Lord has said that he would dwell in thick darkness. 1 Kings 8:12 NRSV

  4. He made darkness his covering around him, his canopy thick clouds dark with water. Psalm 18:11 NRSV

  5. Then the people stood at a distance, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was. Exodus 20:21 NRSV

  6. These words the Lord spoke with a loud voice to your whole assembly at the mountain, out of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, and he added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me. Deuteronomy 5:22 NRSV

  7. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5 NRSV

  13. Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid; for God has come only to test you and to put the fear of him upon you so that you do not sin. Exodus 20:20 NRSV

  14. God comes in darkness to test and put the fear of Him upon us, so that we do not sin.

  15. Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 1 Peter 4:12 NRSV

  16. Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. It was given authority over every tribe and people and language and nation, Revelation 13:7 NRSV

  17. When we lack the fear of God we will walk the way of sin, therefore God tests us when we need a u-turn and to be reminded of Him and His way.

  18. Do I welcome God when He resides and shrouds Himself in darkness? Or is all darkness just evil and bad?

  19. But He answered, You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live. Exodus 33:20 HCSB

  20. The Lord said, Here is a place near Me. You are to stand on the rock, and when My glory passes by, I will put you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. Exodus 33:21 22 HCSB

  21. God always gives us what we need, when we need it, and how we need it not how we necessarily desire it.

  22. Am I living in the fear of God or the fear of the world?

  23. God lives in, controls, allows, and creates the darkness.

  24. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. John 1:1 3 HCSB

  25. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it. John 1:4 5 HCSB

  26. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37 NRSV

  27. If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9 10 HCSB
