WHO IS A VOLUNTEER? A volunteer is any person regularly providing services for or on behalf of the district. The term volunteer includes a person volunteering for a single field trip or event, on the premises of district property or at a school-sponsored or school- related activity on or off school property, who does not receive compensation in excess of reimbursement for expenses.
Program Organization The Principal is in charge and designates a volunteer coordinator for the campus. Volunteer Coordinators guide program implementation. Volunteers will be provided a handbook of guidelines and procedures. Volunteers are carefully screened to protect students and staff and other visitors on the campus. Volunteers will follow the identified procedures for their campus and the district.
Volunteer Program Procedures Always sign-in at the front office upon arrival at the campus. Ensure that you have completed the online volunteer application. There is not a paper option for the application. If you need access to a computer to complete the application, please speak with the volunteer coordinator or campus administration. Allow 72 hours for the application to process. Check with your Campus Volunteer Coordinator to determine the status of your application. You may not begin volunteering until the application has processed and your background check has cleared.
Volunteer Program Procedures Inform the Volunteer Coordinator if you have any special talents or have a desire for a specific type of volunteer assignment. Let your coordinator know if you are not able to volunteer on campus but are willing to work on projects at home. Notify your coordinator or campus administrator if there is a conflict or issue of concern. Dress comfortably but appropriately. If in doubt ASK. ALWAYS wear your campus assigned badge or name tag so that you are easily recognized while working on campus.
