In 2009, Swedish programmer and designer Markus Persson (also known as Notch) set out to create a sandbox game; one that allows for free exploration of a virtual world, for the launch of his new company, Mojang AB. Notch began work on what is now called Minecraft on May 10 of that year, fixing the product until May 16. The alpha version of Minecraft made its public debut the very next day.

You will need to find some plants or animals for food so you don t starve. The best place to find animals is on grass fields. If you want to do some gardening, you can break grass and get seeds to plant some crops. From then, you need to set off in search for water and lava so you can make a portal for the Nether!
