I feel this immediate little bit of shame or rebellion or something. Submission feels old-fashioned.   2. Note: It is not only women who struggle with this command. It is not within human nature to want to submit to anything. Is it possible that the most important reason why so many Christians struggle with submission is because we have not properly and biblically defined what submission is? In my opinion, even when properly understood, many believers will still either struggle with submission, or outright reject it as a personal mandate.

  5. Submission lies at the very heart of the Trinity. The Son and the Holy Spirit submit to the Father. One way we submit to the Father is by submitting to the Son and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, submission does not imply subordination. To submit to a person or organization does not imply you are less significant. The primary reason we submit to authority is because it is God honoring. All authority comes from God, but not all in authority is godly. As long as authority does not compel you to dishonor God, you are to submit. If authority compels you to disobey God, then you submit to the higher authority.

Be subject for the Lord s sake to every human institution, whether it be the emperor as supreme, or to governors I Peter 2:13-14 However, Peter himself refused to submit to the much lower government of the Sanhedrin.
