Arkansas Concurrent Challenge Scholarship Program Details

Creation and Intent Act 456 of 2019 created the Arkansas Concurrent Challenge Scholarship Funded by excess Arkansas Lottery proceeds Qualified high school students may be eligible to receive assistance for concurrent courses The intent is to provide access opportunities to all high school juniors and seniors regardless of financial means
The Arkansas Concurrent Challenge Scholarship will award eligible high school students $125 per course for up to two concurrent credit courses per semester. Excludes courses offered via Secondary Career Centers Excludes Virtual Arkansas courses
Only high school students who are classified as a Junior or Senior qualify. Award Amount: $125 per course Max 2 courses per semester Max 4 courses per year Award amount is fixed regardless of credit hours in course
Allows for uniformity concerning the fees of concurrent credit. Maximum of 6 hours is allowed per semester. A grade of C or better must be earned. Students will receive one Do Over . Courses in Arkansas Course Transfer System and leading to a certificate program are covered.
To Participate Concurrent coordinators at high schools contact your liaison at your partner community college or university Colleges and universities must first discount their regular undergraduate tuition by 50% High schools and colleges will collaborate to produce a roster of students for payment ADHE will award scholarships to colleges to be applied to student accounts Any remaining charges will be the responsibility of the student (or the districts if they chose to fund) Example: Student registers for Composition 1 for concurrent credit at local community college. Regular tuition is $300. College discounts to $150. Concurrent Challenge awards $125 to the student which is applied to the student account at the college. Student or district then pays community college the remaining $25 tuition balance
