Objectives
Enable students to be exposed to an overseas learning
environment
Widen their experiences and exposures
The Scholarship
Quota: 2
Target students: Applicants in the third-year of study
with completion of at least 92 academic units by the end
of the 5
th
term of study.
(Second-year students with completion of at least 55 academic units by the end of
the 3
rd
term will be considered in 2017-18)
US$18,000
for full-year exchange
US$8,000 for one-term exchange
The Scholarship
The scholarship awardees must be admitted by any
one of the following universities for one-term or full-
year exchange
~ Dartmouth College, Thayer School of Engineering
~ Georgia Institute of Technology, College of Engineering
~ University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
~University of Pennsylvania, The School of Engineering and
Applied Science
Selection Criteria
Purpose and motivation –
applicants shall submit a personal
statement to show the purpose and goals for exchange, how the
exchange shall benefit for the student, the faculty as well as the
community, etc.
Academic development -
applicants’ academic performances,
number of ELITE recognized courses have been taken, participation
in competitions or internships, etc.
Service and extracurricular activities –
demonstration of
leadership and commitment through organization and/or participation
in Faculty of ELITE stream activities.
Selection Procedures
1. Applications shall be vetted by the ELITE Stream Director
2. Nominations prioritized by the ELITE Stream Director shall be
reviewed by the Faculty Scholarship Committee
3. Nominees may be invited for interview
4. The donor, and the representatives nominated by the Donor (if
applicable) and the Faculty Scholarship Committee will serve the
interview panel
Important Notes
Recipients of the scholarship MUST:
1.
complete the exchange programme and follow the study scheme
pre-approved by his/her major department;
2.
maintain the ELITE student status before graduation;
3.
submit a sharing report to the Faculty Office within one month
from the date of completion of the exchange programme.
Failure to abide to the above condition(s) will result in scholarship
forfeiture and the Faculty reserve the right to claw back the scholarships
awarded.
