  2. KY School for the Blind (KSB) KSB is located on 14 acres in the historic Clifton neighborhood, 1867 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY. KSB is a residential school in Louisville that offers a comprehensive K-12 education to students who are blind and visually impaired. KSB campus consists of 14 buildings, including dormitories, classrooms, recreational center, gymnasium, arts & administration center, and food services facility. Last major renovation project was to Howser Hall completed in 2019. 2

  3. KY School for the Deaf (KSD) Located on 60 acres on 303 South Second Street in Danville, KY. KSD is a residential school that offers a comprehensive K-12 education program to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. KSD has 13 buildings, including a new elementary school. The campus's central location utilizes eight facilities for students and staff. Last major construction project was the Margaret D. Marshall Elementary School building completed in May 2019. 3

  4. Leadership Training Center (LTC) LTC is located on a 120-acre site at 111 FFA Camp Rd, Hardinsburg, KY. LTC has 38 buildings and provides leadership training for nearly 3,000 youth annually from every county in Kentucky. The last major LTC renovation and expansion project was in 2010 to the dining hall. Other school groups also use these facilities. The busiest time for the LTC is from June-August. 4

  5. Project Pools A source of funds for capital projects with a total scope of less than $1,000,000 each: Maintenance Pool Safety/Security Pool Roof Repair/Replacement Pool HVAC Pool Dorm/Student Life Renovation Pool 5

  6. Maintenance Pool General maintenance needs such as: mechanical repair, sidewalk and railing improvements, exterior structure repairs, plumbing and electrical repairs, fire prevention maintenance and modifications to structures to meet health and safety standards. 6

  7. Safety/Security Pool Funding is needed for projects such as integrated campus-wide fire, weather and alert systems, door and window hardware replacement, card-readers, doors and lighting, campus security cameras. SB1 (2019) requires Controlling the main entrance of the school with electronically locking doors, a camera, and an intercom system . 7

  8. Roof Repair/Replacement Pool There are multiple buildings in various stages of roof repair or replacement needs at KSB, KSD and LTC. Most are between 30 to 5O years old with many small repairs that have been made over the years. 8

  9. HVAC Repair/Replacement Pool HVAC pool will give KDE the flexibility to address the most pressing needs prior to failure Many of these facilities serve disabled students, ranging from Preschool through grade 12, on a 24 hour basis and include dormitories, classroom spaces, cafeterias, and recreational facilities Improved ventilation has been emphasized as a use of funding from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER) 9

Dormitory/Student Life Renovation Pool Renovations to dormitories and buildings where student activities are held KSB Howser Hall Upgrades to meet current building code requirements KSD Middleton and Brady - Update student apartments as restrooms, living areas are not energy efficient (windows, appliances, lighting) LTC cottage renovation and construction Renovations and improvements to meet the needs of our unique student population 10

LTC Classroom/Activity Center Proposed construction of a new facility to support expansion of leadership training facilities and accommodate larger groups throughout the year 6 to 8 additional divided classrooms to allow tailored accommodations depending on group size Gymnasium/activity center and walking track 11
