OPEN PROJECT FUNDING / PNE PROSJEKTMIDLER You may apply for funding for projects, operative costs and venues within: Music / Musikk Performance, theatre/ Scenekunst Electronic arts / Elektronisk kunst Street art and graffiti / Gatekunst og graffiti Visual arts / Visuell kunst Literature / Litteratur og skriftkultur Transdisciplinary projects / Tverrfaglige prosjekt Art criticism and development of theory / Kritikk og teoriutvikling Creative industries / Kunst og n ring Various cultural purposes/ Ymse kulturform l Art educational projects for children and youth / Kunstformidling barn og unge

PROJECT /PROSJEKT A project has a start and an end date Examples: Development of a theatre play or performance, an exhibition, a reading, a tour, an album recording, a workhop, etc. All sized projects, from small to big, collaborative projects All professional artists and cultural workers may apply App. NOK. 5000 to NOK 100 000. Balanced budget

  7. OPERATIVE COSTS /DRIFT Condition: all-year round activity All-sizes, new and established organizations and institutions may apply Examples: Festivals, groups and ensembles, working collectives, exhibition spaces, office collectives, artist groups etc. Not-for-profit Solid operation: Eligible for City budget From NOK. 30 000,- to NOK. 200 000,-.

  8. VENUES /LOKALER Funding for venues for all artistic genres: Studio collectives; artist-run galleries; concert venues; production venues and workshop facilities; shared offices for cultural producers, periodicals, etc. Shared venues are prioritized. From NOK 20 000,- to NOK. 150 000,-

  9. CREATIVE INDUSTRIES /KUNST og N RING PRIORITIES: Projects that may contribute to a better potential for creative industries and financial outcome of art production Ideas that benefit more than one artist Examples: professional development, marketing, networking, mapping of markets etc.

  10. YMSE KULTURFORML + KUNSTFORMIDLING BARN OG UNGE Feb 1st and Sept 1st: Various cultural purposes/ examples: general cultural periodicals, general cultural festivals or event series Art educational projects for children and youth / Kunstformidling barn og unge

  11. FILM/MOVIES The City of Bergen co-owns Vestnorsk Filmsenter with Hordaland county. Vestnorsk Filmsenter handles state and local funds for short films and documentary films, and funds script development for movies and TV-series. The city of Bergen owns the film fund ZEFYR, investing in movie projects and the music fund Buzz, investing in the music industry.

  13. INTERNATIONAL Rask Respons / Quick response Short notice invitation quick response! Invitation less than 3 months from event taking place 3 weeks assessment period Max. NOK. 15 000,- Only international projects! Same criteria as the main international funding

GRANTS /STIPEND Deadline June 1st Etableringsstipend /start-up Studio or office rent, supplies and equipment, website, etc.(20-50 000) Kulturstipend /cultural grants Travel, courses and professional development, supplies and equipment, working grant etc. (50 000) Arbeidsstipend (working grants) Artistic development, one year (225 000)

  15. EVENTS /ARRANGEMENT Continuous deadline 1 months before the event All professional events that reach for a city-wide audience Individual or series of events All artistic disciplines Must be ticketed events

  16. OPEN DOORS/ PNE D RER Deadlines Feb. 1st and Sept. 1st. New in 2018 Reach new audiences Transdisciplinary, pedagogical projects Free events

  17. AiR BERLIN Application deadline May 15th (for stays in 2019) Apartment in Berlin Artists within all artistic fields Stays are granted for 2-3 months NOK 2000 travel grant

  18. CRITERIA Criteria for funding for professional arts and culture: Applicants must be professional and active artists or cultural workers Applicants must live or work in Bergen The project may not have finished at the time of application deadline Applicants may not be full-time students Remember: Finish your reports from previous funding

ASSESSMENT / Vurdering Professional qualifications and experience Artistic level, artistic objectives and future potential Individuality and innovation Realistic and balanced budget Plans for marketing and visibility Current cultural-political priorities (the Arts Plan!) Funding from other parts

  20. THE APPLICATION Why is your project worth realizing? Is it realistic? Project description with a plan for progress What, why, how, who, when and where Balanced budget Documentation of earlier work and ability to follow through on a project CV

BUDGET THE BALANCED BUDGET List all expenses Production, fee, administration, travel, venue, equipment/materials and marketing List all incomes Ticket or sales income, public funding (both what you have applied for and plan to apply for), sponsors, own efforts, collaborators contributions The city of Bergen 1/3 Be realistic!
