Energy Community Revitalization Program (ECRP) & Infrastructure/Jobs Act Bill Overview
The Energy Community Revitalization Program (ECRP) focuses on funding abandoned mines through federal cleanup programs, state grants, tribal grants, and the Infrastructure and Jobs Act Bill. Funding allocations for orphaned wells, federal grants, and state grants are detailed for FY22. Steps involved in closing orphaned wells include permitting, contracting, and onsite work, addressing hazards like methane and groundwater contamination. Challenges in the methane protocol, state coordination with the IOGCC, and federal program funded wells are also highlighted.
