DANIDA DENMARK INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTAL AGENCY
INTRODUCTION Danida is the term used for Denmark s development cooperation, which is an area of activity under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. DENMARK has been granting development assistance since the end of the Second World War
CO-ORDINATION Danida also works in collaboration with the United Nations, the World Bank, regional development banks and the European Union.
AREA OF WORK The most recent DANIDA strategy paper states the following five priority areas of work for 2011-2015: Freedom, democracy and human rights Growth and employment Gender equality Stability and fragility Environment and climate
DANIDA & INDIA DANIDA provides assistance for three National Health Programs. DANLEP LEPROSY. DANTB TUBERCULOSIS. DANPCB BLINDNESS
DANLEP (NATIONAL LEPROSY ERADICATION PROGRAM) The program was launched in four districts in three states of Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, & Tamil Nadu. It offers infrastructural support, health education, human resource development, program monitoring & prevention & care of deformities
DANTB (NATIONAL TUBERCULOSIS ELIMINATION PROGRAM) DANIDA assists the Revised national Tuberculosis Control Program since 1966 and is continuing till today
DANPCB (NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR CONTROL OF BLINDNESS) DANIDA provides assistance for the services rendered under National Blindness Control Program since 1978. The assistance is offered in three phases. PHASE I : Strengthened the infrastructure of Primary Health centers. PHASE II : It set up District Blindness Control Societies in order to develop human resources & to decentralize the services. PHASE III : Continues the gains of the earlier phases and is proposed to set up national Eye Care Center through its assistance.
