Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) King s College Hospital Denmark Hill & Guy s and St. Thomas Hospital (St. Thomas Site)
What is SDEC and How to Refer The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) units are led by specialist acute medicine and acute surgical consultants & registrars and provide rapid assessment, diagnostics and treatment for acute conditions. For your patient, this will mean efficient access to the right care in the right place, first time and significantly reduce the likelihood of requiring admission to a hospital bed. General practice colleagues in Lambeth and Southwark can discuss and refer patients who need same day emergency care (SDEC) with the ambulatory care teams at both Kings College Hospital Denmark Hill and St. Thomas Hospital. Rapid diagnostics are available to the units and will allow same day assessment and treatment to the patients and reduce the likelihood of admission to the hospital. These units are open to referrals only and not available as direct patient walk-in services*, all patients must be referred to the right SDEC service via the Consultant Connect app or the contact phone number if Consultant Connect is not available (see specific site info below for contact routes). For services via Consultant Connect, please refer to their service directory and enter your practices unique practice CC phone number. (Service Directory | Consultant Connect). You can download the Consultant Connect app at: www.consultantconnect.org.uk, which makes access to services faster. More information on SDECs can be found here: https://www.england.nhs.uk/urgent-emergency-care/same-day-emergency-care/ For any questions on referring to SDEC in Lambeth & Southwark please contact: avril.satchwell@selondonics.nhs.uk
