We believe the changes planned will make a significant difference for many of our students and konga. These principles now form the basis of the system shifts we want to achieve in NCEA through the 7 key changes. For each System Shift include problem and then what the shift is.. Wellbeing Inclusion and Equity Coherence Pathways Credibility Each system shift will be followed by a short reflection activity (5-7mins) Stage 3: NCEA Changes explained & updates 2 mins Explain the NCEA changes that will be implemented and provide an update on the progress that has been made so far. Module 1 Welcome & Introduction Module 2 NCEA Changes Module Stage Time Content Method of Delivery Tools/Resources Change 1: Make NCEA more accessible 5 mins What we heard: What is the change and how the system shift it connects to Make NCEA more accessible, by ensuring that standards are inclusive by design and that Special Assessment Conditions are equitably available for NCEA students. Update on progress: LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script Change 2: Mana rite mo te m taurangaM ori 5 mins What we heard: What is the change and how the system shift it connects to - Mana ritem te m taurangaM ori; parity for m taurangaM ori, by strengthening standards derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and ensuring New Zealand Curriculum-derived standards better incorporate M ori knowledge. This will enable all young people to experience contexts relevant to Aotearoa and kongaM ori to see themselves in their learning. Update on progress LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script Change 3: Strengthen literacy and numeracy requirements 5 mins What we heard: LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script What is the change and how the system shift it connects to Strengthen literacy and numeracy requirements, by developing a new set of literacy and numeracy standards that are a co-requisite to the qualification. Update on progress Change 4: Fewer, larger standards 5 mins What we heard: LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script What is the change and how the system shift it connects to - Have fewer, larger, standards for each subject. Subjects will be made up of four standards worth twenty credits at each level, with half internally and half externally assessed. This change is largely implemented through the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS). Update on progress

Module 1 Welcome & Introduction Module 2 NCEA Changes Module Stage Time Content Method of Delivery Tools/Resources Change 5: Simplify NCEA s structure 5 mins What we heard: LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script What is the change and how the system shift it connects to -Simplify NCEA s structure, by removing the 20-credit carryover from a lower NCEA level, limiting resubmissions so that they can only move a grade up from Not Achieved to Achieved, and creating the opportunity for students to gain an Achieved course endorsement. Update on progress Change 6: Show clearer pathways to further education and employment 5 mins What we heard: LMS Module, Video and voiceover Slides, voiceover script What is the change and how the system shift it connects to -Show clearer pathways to further education and employment by implementing a Vocational Entrance Award, introducing new vocational subjects to NCEA, and developing packages of coherent learning that contribute towards clear vocational pathways.
