Nurturing and empowering youth to excel in communication and leadership through Toastmasters' YLP. Local clubs sponsor and lead workshops for students, benefiting both participants and contributing to the community. Active Toastmasters conduct training sessions, enhancing their own skills while guiding youth. Various YLP programs are held in different locations, catering to different age groups and class sizes.

To nurture & empower our youth to become a good communicator and leader through practical experience Using Toastmasters' unique eight-session, workshop- style Meetings follow a format similar to that of a Toastmasters club meeting YLP s are usually sponsored by the local Toastmasters club and are led by Toastmaster members. A program can include 10-20 students of any school-age group DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  3. Local Toastmasters club serves as sponsor, providing the coordinators & experienced leaders Usually pay for the YLP kits needed to run this program Create opportunities for club members to improve their leadership and public speaking skills Serve as an effective PR tool for the Toastmaster club to interested parents and the community DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  4. The adult conducting most of the training and counseling participants Must be an active Toastmaster in good standing & have accomplished 6 CC speech projects May have support from a Toastmaster assistant and various guest speakers Sharpen your own public speaking & leadership skills, & fulfill 1 requirement for ACG. An ultimate opportunity for Toastmasters to help our youth and serve our community! DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  6. Citizens for Better Community has sponsored YLPs for the past 18 years, & Albert Mo has involved with the program >7 consecutive years! ChevMasters has coordinated YLPs at Buena Vista Elementary for 8+consecutive years, with Ron Catoire coordinated for 9 years and Alan Paolini for 8 years! Kaiser Vallejo has sponsored a summer YLP in the past 10 years! DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  7. EXPAND the AWARENESS & COLLABORATION in the COMMUNITY RECRUIT, SUPPORT & RECOGNIZE for YLP COORDINATORS & SPONSORING CLUBS DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  8. Contact different organizations to widen the network and set up future collaboration for YLP & Toastmasters: GATE: Fremont School District and other districts (Prasad Bodas) Girls Inc. Alameda, San Ramon, & Oakland (Dennis Neary) Kaiser: Summer Intern and Youth Programs @ Vallejo and other Kaisers (Juni Abuda) Churches: (Savitha Setlur, Juni Abuda...) Schools: Concord & Walnut Creek area (Alan Paolini & Ron) & San Leandro through debate club (Dennis Neary) DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  9. Toastmasters Time TV to specifically for and about YLP Chinese Talk show Radio, reaching out to >500 Chinese families in the Bay Area District and Club Websites mean for YLPs and Toastmasters Toastmasters Time TV: create more shows District and Club Websites: an effective PR DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

RECRUIT Start district movement & friendly competition for each Area to start > 1 new YLPs this coming year District & Club Officers serve as the eyes and ears to recruit for more YLP coordinators and sponsoring clubs Training @ TLI for interested Coordinators Promote YLPs & Recruit for more Coordinators @ District Website, Newsletter, DECM & District Conferences DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  11. SUPPORT Form a committee of experienced YLP coordinators to mentor 1st-time YLP coordinators. Provide template of agenda & schedule, beside the coordinator guide book from TI, to provide extra resource. Set up and expand on standing arrangement with different organizations that have collaborated/ supported YLP DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016

  12. RECOGNITION COORDINATORS: Provide extra incentive for continue coordinating, beyond credit toward ACG Present certificate to coordinator @ program ceremony/ contest by district officers. Consider giving an official name badge and/or award ribbons for coordinators completed > 3 programs SPONSORING CLUBS: Certificates for Sponoring Clubs Award ribbons and special recognition for clubs who have sponsored > 3 YLPs @ Spring District Conference (ChevMasters, Citizens for Better Communicators, Mare Island Toastmasters, Union City Club, etc..) Suggestions of other forms of recognitions & encouragement??? DISTRICT 57 YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2015-2016
